Plastic surgery has the capability to give you an entirely new look. Gone are those days when we had to accept our body features but today is a time when you can change almost anything you dislike about yourself be it your nose shape, your complexion, your belly or the size and shape of your breast. Pigmentation can also be very well taken care of by plastic surgery.

There have been so many cases where models and celebrities have done their complete makeover by seeking the help of cosmetic surgery. It has been named plastic surgery due to the fact that there is a Greek word “Plastikos”, which means to assume a form or to mold to take a new shape. There are basically two prime kinds of plastic surgery namely cosmetic surgery and reconstructive surgery. The difference between the two lies in the fact that reconstructive surgery is performed to get rid of ugly body marks or injuries, birth defects and last but not least certain ailments. On the other hand, cosmetic surgery as the name suggests is carried out to lend you a beautiful look and to enhance your personality.

Cosmetic surgery: in the cosmetic surgery, the surgeon basically reshapes, tautens and repositions the muscles and skin to improve the physical appearance of the person undergoing the plastic surgery. Cosmetic surgery is basically done to enhance the aesthetic appeal. In the normal course, cosmetic surgery is done for the following purposes: breast augmentation, face lifting and lastly Rhinoplasty. The surgery can be severe or mild varying from one case to another. It is usually done on the neck, leg, arm, face, breast, belly and other visible parts of body.

Reconstructive surgery: It is done on the patients suffering from chronic infections, traumas and tumors. Its prime focus unlike the cosmetic surgery is to improve the functioning of the affected body part. You’ll be surprised to know that almost 1 million reconstructive surgeries are done every year. It includes both the patients: the ones having birth defects as well as those that have become the victims of bad circumstances.

Reconstructive surgeries at times involve several steps but it all depends no the gravity of problem.

Whenever a person undergoes a plastic surgery, it takes little longer to heal up completely. Plastic surgery does cause a bit of pain in the post operative stage but it subsides after a point of time as you recover. It is recommended that such patients should keep away from nicotine based products for at least one month after the operation. Alcohol and smoking are a total no. Exposure to sunlight or direct contact with an inflammatory article should be strictly avoided. Depending on the type of plastic surgery you are going for, its cost differs. For simple collagen injection, it costs near about $350 and for a face lift; it costs as much as $4000. In the end, it is suggested to seek a good plastic surgeon who has credibility in the market.
