There are however some GSM networks in which supplementary services may not be available. Such supplementary services may include FAX and text messages. Majority of GSM networks contain service called GPRS that allows convenient data transfer at the speed of 20-50 kilobits per second. These are similar to the dial-up analog phone line. It is also not very costly. Except a few countries like Austria, Poland and Czech Republics, it follows the uniform rate of $3.91 throughout the world. GSM is usually slower as well as expensive in comparison to GPRS. However in places where no GPRS services are available, GSM is the only option you have.
